A HAJS Thing..

This post is for those who do not know what HAJS is (especially Chikapappi). HAJS is the collective noun my 3 best friends and I use to refer to ourselves. Examples:

Mom: Where are you going?
Moi: HAJS gathering.
Friend: What did you do yesterday?
Moi: Hung out with HAJS.

The word HAJS is a combination of the first letter of what we call each other. Let's say we called each other Henry, Aurora, Jellybean, and Suki. The first letters combined would equal HAJS.
Although we haven't known each other for a lifetime, it feels like we have. We are complete opposites. With time, we discover more differences and less similarities. It's strange, but these many differences are bringing us closer together. Fortunately, we are comfortable enough to tell each other everything.

That's the general idea. The rest is for us to share amongst ourselves.

HAJS: Luv u;*

J's Surprise;*

J's birthday came and went. We (H & I, because S is not in the country) cooked up a surprised for her. Of course, to add a little spice to the whole thing, I had to pretend my parent's did not allow me to go on this party night out. So, when we went to pick her up, and she glanced to her side and saw me, she had one poshlusty reaction! It was really funny. I was happy to see her that happy. The night was amazing because J was smiling all the time. It meant so much to me that she was happy. The day was hers.

Love you J;*

"If no love is, O God, what feele I so?"

People, it's official. I'm in love with my professor's mind. He gave us Chaucer on the first day. He acts while reading out loud. He does a very slow basic mambo dance step repetitively while reading poetry to the class. He wears nice clothes. He looks clean. He speaks perfect English. He makes us laugh. After I comment on something to R (friend stitting next to me), he expresses the same thought in different words. I think this is going to be the class of the semester for moi! Absolutely loving it! Definitely not minding the work that he piles over our heads:)

I was walking with Sou because she wanted sticky bickies (post-its) yesterday, and this girl from one of the election campaigns comes up to us and offers us a CD. I usually ignore them, but this time it wasn't a flyer or an invitation, it was a CD. So, I asked her who she is representing, and she said "Mostaqilla". I asked her what was on the CD, and she replied "Fethaye7 elqawa2em elthanya."
Yes, it's a shallow method to win. Yes, I think it's a stupid thing to be passing around. Yes, it's called "Maseerat Takhathul." But I took it. I put it into the drive. I looked through it. I'm surprised.

I had an interesting conversation with my cousin last night. Which got me thinking.. Why is it so hard for people to respect other people's lifestyles? I mean, they choose to smoke. Why change them? Shouldn't you like or dislike them for what they are? They choose not to be guided with religion. They think religion is superstitious. Why interfere and impose your thoughts on them? I know people who are obsessed with that! I feel like screaming in there faces to BACK OFF!!! Let me live like I want to, leave others be!

Today is a special day.

To My Grandmother's Limits!!!

[Happy Birthday HAJ! You're a must-have in everyone's life babe, and you got no idea how much I love you;*]
---
Okay. Let's start with KU. One of my literature professors talks weird. I mean she rambles and says things like "an information", "literatures", and "ya 3youni." So, I don't think I'll be able to understand what she's saying, especially since she ends her sentences with "etc." and "you know." Nice, huh? Well, I expected it, but the extent of the unusuality of her speech far exceeds what I had in mind. On the positive side, I have two pretty amazing professors who will take my mind off the extraordinary one.

---

I'm frustrated! The people that brought me into this world are driving me crazy! Aaaaaah! I have a theory to go with that, but I have to test it on them before I share it;) Love those two;*

---

I finally got Middlesex! Thanks to H. I had to finish another book before I started it, but the first chapter is great! Really keeps you going. It's one of those books with little hints that you make mental notes of, and when the other side of the foreshadowing is revealed, you go "Aha!"

Interesting cover. *winks*

Right! Enough talking about things that seem to have nothing to do with each other. Going straight to bed. Nighty night, young sports (yes in a Gatsby mood)!

Letting Off STEAM..

Today I went to KU, and it was awful. I have to stop here because I'm fasting (if I go on, I'll swear). Ghalia and Farah, I saw you guys part of that blessed morning, so you know what happened.

Question: If your clients are upset, do you stop working?

---

What's up with the superstitions? Seriously, I don't comprehend how people actually believe this stuff. Example:

  • Once I left the shower, and I was brushing my hair. My mom's friend told me I should pick any hairs that fall on the ground and throw them in the bin because if people step on them I'll get a headache.

Come on! What could you say to that?

Why Poshlust You Ask?

Recently, I read Reading Lolita in Tehran, and the author asks each of her students to define the word "poshlust". I defined it, too.

Poshlust
adj. poshlusty
a point nearest to perfection
So, in celebration of my poshlust definition, I decided to name my blog poshlust.
P.S. I don't know what you should expect.
